Knockout City Chronicle #7
Knockout City Chronicle #7 - Monday July 19, 2021
Thank you for tuning in to this week’s edition of The Knockout City Chronicle, bringing you all the KO news that’s fit to dish… satellite style, from the moon, straight to your eyeballs! Speaking of, let’s beam down a beat you’re not gonna wanna miss: want to get your first look at Season 2? Watch EA Play Live on July 22nd! This segment will feature our new ball, new map, and brand-new cosmetics you’ll be able to look forward to in Season 2, so be sure to follow us on Twitter and join our Discord for information on what time you can catch it live!
Creator Crew
A huge shoutout to everyone who applied to be part of our Creator Crew! Thank you all for your interest in Knockout City and for everything you do to put out fantastic content on the internet. We had hundreds of applicants, and we’re slowly combing through, popping into streams, watching VODs, and slowly admitting more people to the program—our first two groups have already been announced! As we add more creators, you’ll be able to find them here (that is, assuming they have Twitter). Watch for their streams on Twitch, which will have Twitch Drops enabled, so smash that follow button, toss a sub to your Twitcher, and show them (and all KO City content creators) the love they deserve!
To everyone we haven’t gotten in contact with yet: please don’t be discouraged! Right now, it’s just me and Josh over here managing this program in between supporting the community, marketing the game, and retweeting KO City memes (okay, it’s more than that, but you get the point). We’re putting in the hard work right now to help this program grow over time, but we’re taking it day by day so we’re able to grow this program into the best dang partner program out there.
Twitch Drops
As mentioned above, our partners and select streams will feature Twitch Drops. We’re keeping things fresh with rotating rewards, so you’ll have new items to look forward to each week! Here’s the loot you can collect for watching select streams now through July 26!
If you’re new to Twitch Drops, click on your icon in the upper right-hand corner, and go to “Drops,” then “All Campaigns,” and look for Knockout City. Before you can claim Drops, you’ll have to link your EA and Twitch accounts—make sure you’ve got the correct account! For more info on how to do that, click here.
Week 9 — Double XP Event!
We’re finishing out this Season with a bang, bringing you the winner of our Players’ Choice Playlist for Week 9: Double Team KO! So many of you have been asking for 2v2s, so we’re happy to step back and let you go forth and brawl to your heart's content this week.
Nah, just kidding. We’re never satisfied with the status quo, so we’re throwing in a few surprises that will spice up your week, including six killer contracts that award 2000 XP each! That plus the Double Match XP you’ll earn all week long will help get you that extra boost to finish out the season strong! What else is happening in our final week? Oh, nothing you’d want to know about. I’m sure it’s not worth mentioning here (but you should still check back tomorrow after the final week starts). 🤔
Brawl Shop
This being the final week of the Season, we thought we’d do a little catwalk of all our Brawl Shop items for this week. Pandemic got us feeling like we passed up so many opportunities to go out and strut in our best looks, so this week’s Brawl Shop preview is inspired by @TheOrderOfDylan and his incredible fashion show.
Contracts
This is it. Your final week of Season 1. We’re leaving together, but still, we stand tall. Whether you’re Bronze or Diamond, you gave it your all. I guess there is no one to blame, no catch button to spam. Will things ever be the same again? 🎶
*Ahem* Excuse me.
With Season 2 right around the corner, it’s your final opportunity to get your sticky little fingers on some hot Crew Contract rewards. By now, you know that you’ve gotta complete any two contracts to get a Crew Banner, and this week’s is the Power Panel, bringing the heat as you forge your way into battle. But what’s really gonna leave tracks is the Legendary Crew Vehicle you get with any four contracts: Cheetahs Never Prosper.
Some of you are overachievers and have already unlocked this bad boy, but for those of you who haven’t gotten there yet, here’s a look at the super shiny Shark Attack that’s got your name on it, once you complete 45 Crew Contracts.
Finally, be sure to finish out this Season strong and complete all six of your Crew Contracts, because you’ll slide right into Season 2 with a nice little 5% XP bonus on your side, helping you pave the way forward just a little bit easier.
Dev Team Stream(s)
This week, in addition to our regularly scheduled Tuesday Dev Team Stream, we’re bringing you a sneak peek at Season 2! We’ll be showing off the new map and the new ball, plus you’ll get Twitch Drops just for watching! So mark your calendars:
- Tuesday, July 20th at 5:30 p.m. ET — Twitch Drops, Devs Ashley and Mauro, and your favorite hosts, Josh and Lynn
- Friday, July 23rd at 4:30 p.m. ET — Sneak Peek at Season 2!
Play of the Week
Not too long ago, our Audio Director, Matt Pirog, encouraged everyone to go into the hideout and practice catching with their eyes closed. Turns out listening to your surroundings and really understanding your environment can make you a better player! And that’s exactly what KO City savant @Grrrcedes did here in this week’s “Areyoufreakingkiddingmehowtheheckdidshedothat—playthatagain!” of the week:

KO City Fanart
I’ve gotta hand it to our Discord friend Mr.Popcoren, who has shared so many wonderful variations of outfits, creative concepts for balls, and this—my personal favorite. But what if?
Be sure to share your Knockout City fanart, cosplays, and creations with #kocityfanart on Twitter, or post them in our #fanart channel in our Discord!
That’s a Wrap!
Thanks for reading, brawlers! See you next week when we unveil SEASON TWOOOOOOO! Keep on brawlin’!
