BASKETBRAWL
Season 3: H@cKeD
Tomorrow, our upgrade to version 3.0 will commence at 12pm (noon) UTC (find your local time zone here). Do not be alarmed. Calmly review the Season 3: H@cKeD news page, where you’ll find information on the new map, Lockdown Throwdown, Brawl Pass, Deep Space Dispatches, the new energy drink and more!
We’re trying something a little different with Season 3, by bringing you four new two-week events, back-to-back (to back to back). Every event will feel dramatically different, introduce new contracts, and score you tons of great rewards! Plus, with the new changes to League Play, you’ll never run out of exciting ways to brawl. As a sneak peek, here are the event titles and timeline for what you can expect all Season long. Plus, you can check out notes for Patch 3.0, which comes out tomorrow, here. But you’ll have to stay tuned for the finer details throughout the Season, baby.
Basketbrawl
Time to lace up your trainers, brawlers! Season 3 kicks off tomorrow with a slam dunk of a playlist that will feel familiar, yet unexpectedly challenging! It’s Basketbrawl, and it’s here for two weeks—Enough time for you to perfect your three-point throws.
Wanna be an All Star? KO your opponents to trap them in ballform, then pick up their helpless, spherical bodies and pass them to a teammate to alley-oop them through one of the hoops hovering throughout the level to score three points! Opposition blocking your path to a hoop? Chuck them off the map for one point. But beware—if you spend too long gearing up for the perfect move, you might run out of time! KOed brawlers can pop back out of ballform with one heart! If you see an opponent about to attempt a jump shot with your teammate as the ball, tackle your opponents to pop them back out with one heart! You’ll need 21 points to win the Round, and two rounds to win the Match.
The launch of Basketbrawl comes with its own set of Contracts, which reward Holobux upon completion. You’ll find yourself showered in cash, like a sports hero who just landed a contract with a AAA team. Complete all twelve contracts, and you’ll be sitting on a nice pile of 1500 Holobux, enough to purchase the Premium version of Brawl Pass, and have a little extra left over to get yourself somethin’ nice from the Brawl Shop.
Want to see it in action? Tune in to our stream tonight, October 4th, at 5:30pm ET at Twitch.tv/KnockoutCity

Brawl Shop
Some of you paid pretty close attention to that Season 3 trailer, takin’ screenshots of each new cosmetic reveal. This Season you’ll get at least one new item in the shop every day. There’s over 60 new cosmetics! Here’s a quick, 10 second look at what’s coming in the first few days (in no particular order).
League Play
We previously announced some changes to League Play, including Team Elimination as the featured Playlist, with some updates to improve playability:
- Any balls not held by a brawler will respawn on ball spawners after a team wipe, to prevent one team from having as much ball control.
- If you join a match in progress, you’ll spectate until the first team wipe, because nobody wants to spawn in the middle of the danger zone with no chance to avoid getting KO’d.
- It’s no fun to respawn right next to the opposing team, so we fixed a bug that caused that to happen more often than it should have (which is never).
- Coming in a patch after Season 3 launches will be a fix for the spectating bug that can make your camera angle look further up or down than the player you’re spectating is on their game.
To read up on the full list of changes, including those made to how Skill Rating is calculated, click here. We’ll be keeping an eye on how these changes are received by the community, so hop into a match and start brawlin’ your way to the top.
Crew Contracts
It’s a new Season with crisp, crunchy new Crew Contracts! This week, complete any two contracts to get the Rare Crew Horn: Car Alarm ( click on the sound icon in the gif below to hear so you can instantly be transported back to that time your roommate lost their keys and couldn’t silence their car at 3am). Finish any 4 contracts to get the Uncommon Crew Vehicle: Palm Leaves. All six contracts still gets you that 5% XP boost until the end of the season, so get at it!
Fanart
Thanks to @glass0milk for sharing your fanart! I just have one question: how does this brawler keep from popping the ball when catching?
Good Games Everyone!
I honestly can not convey how excited I am for this mode to come out—I think it’s the best one we’ve launched yet (yes, I prefer it over Superpowers! Don’t @ me), and I can’t wait for you all to try it. I’ll be the one over here playing the theme song to Space Jam on repeat as I dish out KOs. See you on the court, brawlers!
