Welcome New Brawlers!

Let’s show you the ropes!

Welcome To Knockout City!

Hey all you brand new PlayStation Plus brawlers! Easy to tell you’re new to these parts—no tears in your clothes, shoes shiny and unscuffed, faces free from bruises—you’re new, alright! Ain’t no mind, you’ll fit in just fine here. We’re ready to welcome you to the field the only way we know how: a swift dodgeball to the face. Better think fast and learn where the catch button is.

Actually, scratch that. ‘Round here, brawlers will tell you the only button you need to locate is the pass button, and that’s the honest truth. While you’re at it, take a few moments to run through all the trainings in the Hideout by visiting the Radio Bot, and practice with the dummy before you go out there and get creamed.

What now? Practice bots? My sources are telling me that you’ll need to complete a few first matches with bots before we’ll let you go up against the best and brightest out there. Man, back in my day, we didn’t have a whole Discord community to tap into, a Creator Crew of Twitch streamers and YouTubers to learn from (and get Twitch Drops from!), a consistent update of weekly Chronicles like this one tellin’ you what’s goin’ on out there, and a constant stream of tweets coming at you from the Twitters. You kids are spoiled, ya hear?

Well, progress is progress! And there’s been a ton of it here in the City. No, I don’t mean that high-rise complex Magpie is building on the East end. I mean the game! We’ve come a long way since the early days, and we’re excited for what’s in store. Rumor has it this Thursday, you’ll learn about our next Event, Ultimate Experience, if you tune in to twitch.tv/knockoutcity. But you didn’t hear that from me. Before you go make yourself comfy in the Hideout, a few pro tips: 1. Find a Crew, or make your own! Completing Crew Contracts with friends is a great way to level up together, get bonus XP and score awesome cosmetics. More on this below. 2. Read up on our handy guides (and bookmark this page) 3. Can’t say it enough: Join. Our. Discord. It’s the only place you can go to get up to the minute news and updates, and chat directly with the Developers behind Knockout City.

Now, get out there! Good luck, you’re gonna need it. Anyway, on to your regularly scheduled weekly update.

We Got H@cKeD!

The entity known as Z3R0 has been infiltrating our studio at every level, embedding codes, stealing laptops, dropping strange 8-bit Dodgeball games, and taking the DJ’s voice acting gig. Every day brings something new, and we’ve grown accustomed to the shenanigans by now. So, I wasn’t surprised when one morning, Z3R0 had hacked the Knockout City Chronicle I had been editing, and replaced the text with binary code and emojis. Very funny, Z3R0.

What I wasn’t expecting, however, was that my usual morning playlist of Knockout City jams sounded a little… off. Z3R0 hacked our soundtrack and packaged up three of our songs as stems on our Discord, ripe for remixing by musically-inclined brawlers. Maybe I'll get in trouble for sharing these with everyone, but I'm more worried about what Z3R0 might do to me if I don't!

Upon review of Z3R0’S cryptic Chronicle message, it appears they left specific instructions for us to share these tracks with all of you, with a request: Create and submit your best remixes, then share them with us on Discord! We’ll share the best with the community via our Discord and Twitter!

Playlists

The verdict is in: and KO Royale is a fan favorite! Just seven more days remain on this playlist, so be sure to complete your Event Contracts to score all the Holobux your sticky little fingers can pry away from Magpie.

Come Saturday, I don’t wanna hear any whining that players won’t ball up. Be a good sport, take turns and work together!

Crew Contracts

If you’re new to the game, you’re probably wandering around out there wondering how the heck everyone else has all these incredible Crew Vehicles, Crew Horns, Crew Banners and back-of-jacket Crew Logos. Step one: Join a Crew (or create your own and recruit your friends!). Crews can have up to 32 members, and allow you to name and customize your crew just the way you like it. Each week, you’ll work together to complete six randomly assigned Crew Contracts, which will reward XP to every member of your Crew. Depending on how many you complete, you’ll unlock sweet rewards, including stackable XP bonuses that last the season. For a complete breakdown, check out this page. Your Crew Contracts will look a little like this, but the specific Contracts are randomized every week for every crew.

Now: a little disclaimer about this week’s rewards: This week’s two Contract rewards aren't condoning road rage. BUT. When you gotta get to a match, sometimes you just need brawlers to Get Outta the Way! Time is short and there are KOs to score here, okay? If a (completely polite) honk won’t do the job, maybe it’s time to nibble some ankles with the Epic Crew Vehicle: Piranha Pack, this week’s four-contract reward.

We’re just a little past the halfway point in the Season, so let’s take a look at what we’re working towards: the Bone ‘n Chrome Season 3 Crew Contract. Finishing your Contracts each week will score you this shiny reward at the end of the season to help strike fear into the hearts of your opponents, or, cruise right by them and burn them to a crisp.

Happy Hours

Gentle reminder: Happy Hours occur weekdays starting at 9am UTC! Not at your typical brawl time? No worries! If you find yourself unable to sleep, 9 out of 10 brawlers recommend relaxing before bedtime with a soothing Happy Hour match. Simply log in at and receive an additional 20 XP for every KO you land for the next three hours. That ASMR sound the ball makes when it makes contact? It’s just what you need to be refreshed and ready for tomorrow!

Tip of the Week

Kicking off our new Tip of the Week feature, Sett created this fantastic guide for new PlayStation Plus members getting their first few matches in Knockout City. Tune in to get five key ways to spend less time respawning and more time being MVP!

Fanart

Memes are Fanart, don’t you dare let anyone get away with saying they’re not. Sometimes we get an absolute gem that just has to be honored and shared, like you’d preserve a fine painting in an art gallery.

That’s Brawl, Folks!

Now, before you go run off in search of the nearest ball spawn point, join our official Discord, follow us on Twitter, and of course, bookmark this website. Welcome to the community, you’re a brawler now!
